Chief Audit Executive - HigherEdJobs

The University of Texas System seeks nominations and invites applications for the position of Chief Audit Executive. The Chief Audit
Executive is responsible for oversight of all internal audit functions at the 15 institutions that comprise the University of Texas System
to ensure that an effective control environment is in place System-wide. The primary responsibilies of the position are developing a
System-wide internal audit plan based on a comprehensive risk assessment, coordinating the implementation of this plan with the Chief Audit
Executives for the academic and health-sciences campuses, and ensuring that internal audit resources and performance are consistent with the
expectations of the Board of Regents and with external standards such as those of the Institute of Internal Auditors. The Chief Audit
Executive reports functionally to the Audit, Compliance and Management Review Committee of the Board of Regents and to the Chancellor of the
UT System, and works administratively with the General Counsel to the Board of Regents. The heads of internal audit at the 15 UT System
institutions report directly to their campus leadership and indirectly to the UT System Chief Audit Executive.

Successful candidates will have outstanding leadership skills and documented capacity to serve as a member of a dynamic senior management team. Candidates must be able to affect change in institutional culture and operations in a decentralized, multifunction environment, and will have substantial internal audit and audit management experience, with increasing levels of responsibility, and demonstrated knowledge of and ability to implement best practices. A broad background in higher education or a similarly complex, decentralized, and regulated business environment, with experience in risk assessment, is required. Experience in addressing specialized issues associated with the operations of a major public research university, such as sponsored research, student financial aid, health care, information technology, and the regulatory environment, is important. Candidates should be designated as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and/or a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). A bachelor's degree or equivalent in business, accounting, finance, or a related field is required; a master's degree or the equivalent in business, accounting, finance or a related field is preferred.
