Mitt Romney???s New Hampshire Primary Victory, by the Numbers (ContributorNetwork)

The Associated Press reports Mitt Romney was declared the winner of the 2012 Republican primary election in New Hampshire shortly after polls closed at 8 p.m. EST. Romney won with nearly 40 percent of the votes cast throughout the state.

Here's a look at Romney's victory, by the numbers.

30: Candidates officially on the ballot in New Hampshire. By comparison, South Carolina's presidential preference primary has only nine candidates.

6: Candidates who earned more than 1,000 votes apiece in New Hampshire. These were the six mainstream GOP candidates seen on national television in debates and also the candidates with the most money.

301: voting precincts in New Hampshire's 10 counties. Romney won nine of 10 counties. Texas Rep. Ron Paul, who finished second, won the other one.

7: Delegates Romney won to support him at the Republican National Convention. The New York Times reports because New Hampshire scheduled its primary before February, half of the state's delegates to the national convention were stripped by the Republican National Committee. Paul received three delegates for coming in second. Jon Huntsman received two delegates for a third-place finish.

39.4: Percent of votes statewide received by Romney with 95 percent of the precincts reporting results. By comparison, in 2008 Sen. John McCain received 37.1 percent.

16: Percent difference between Romney and his closest competition. Paul finished with nearly 23 percent of the vote statewide.

343: Votes given to Michele Bachmann. Bachmann dropped out of the race after a disappointing showing in the Iowa caucus. That number was about twice what Herman Cain had, and he dropped out in early December.

10: Days until the South Carolina primary. That contest will be held Jan. 21 among nine candidates on the ballot listed in alphabetical order. Sen. John McCain won there in 2008.
